Despite not being able to speak English very well, an Indian farmer has charmed the internet after he sang a cover of Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber’s hit song “Baby.”
According to a report by Gulf News, the biggest selling English newspaper in UAE, the farmer is from the state of Karnataka in the village Hindasagatte. He has actually been known before as an internet sensation for “re-enacting English songs of various artists and also treats people with a dance.”
This time around he decided to sing one of Justin Bieber’s biggest hits “Baby,” and the resulting video also went viral real quick. In the three-minute video, Pradeep H.R. can be seen working in the field in the first few seconds, and after a brief conversation with the man behind the camera, Pradeep eventually starts singing.

His lack of English skills never deterred him from learning pop songs and performing them, as he told Indian media the trick to his amazing covers.
Even though he failed English class as a kid, he said it was fairly easy to sing the songs just as long as he familiarized himself with the “accent and tune.”
“I don’t know either Chinese or Japanese languages. But I listen to songs in those languages repeatedly and follow the accent and tune. I always plug in earphones and constantly listen to songs whatever I am doing,” Pradeep said.
Pradeep also shared that to help his failed English, he sings the English numbers. While it may not completely help his diction, it does help him familiarize himself with English words.

What makes his videos so popular is the dedication he puts into his performances. Gulf News writes that Pradeep’s use of phonetics, accent, body language is what really sells the performance, and the results are what get him recognized on the internet.
