Swedish YouTuber Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, more popularly known as PewDiePie, has unveiled his new mobile game called Poopdie, but Apple has rejected it. This means that his game is now only available on Google Play for Android users, reports American video game news provider Polygon. PewDiePie is known for his content of video documentation of a game and comedic formatted shows.

Why Apple Rejected PewDiePie’s New Mobile Game

Kjellberg said that the game’s poop-oriented title was “too stinky” for the App Store but he is trying to find a solution so that his gross-out game can also be made available to Apple users. He explained that in the Poopdie game, the players will take the role of a worm that poops out minions that will then do as they are commanded. Other terms that players will encounter are also fecal-related, such as “fartspells” and “poopgrades.”

Players of the game are tasked to defeat the evil Samron and other vicious creatures using Poopdie’s farting ability. Poopdie the worm can eat certain foods found in the game and then poop its minions afterward.

“My game was banned,” Kjellberg said on one of his YouTube videos. He said that although the characters are all cartoons, the game was still considered gross by Apple’s standards.

This is not the first time that Kjellberg ventured into mobile games. The Swedish entertainer is also popular for his mobile game Tuber Simulator, which was developed by Outerminds Inc. Kjellberg also voices himself in this game. When Tuber Simulator was released in 2016 on Android and iOS, it became the top downloaded app on Apple’s App Store and has since been downloaded more than 10 million times. The Tuber Simulator game enables players to take the role of a YouTube icon and use the subscriber count to purchase items that will enhance their performance.

As to PewDiePie’s latest gaming venture, Apple fans can view the 20-minute gameplay of Poopdie on his YouTube channel while waiting for Apple to allow the game on the App Store.

Not in Line With Apple’s Guidelines

Developer studio Bulbware, which is behind the Poopdie game, said that Apple has rejected the game because they believe that the sound effects and “crude imagery” may disgust the users. This means that it is not in line with the guidelines set by the company for their store. Currently, the studio is trying to appeal the decision, hoping that they can reach a better settlement. Apple has not yet responded to the appeal as of this publication. In a blog post, Bulbware encouraged Apple to accept the game, saying they have already received “hundreds of requests from iOS users “eager to start pooping.”

Apple has also previously rejected the video game The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. It is an indie video game designed by Edmund McMillen and developed and published by Nicalis. Apple explained that it rejected the game because of its depiction of violence.

His new game may not yet be available on iOS. However, the number of fans looking forward to trying the new game may help convince Apple to finally approve it.
