There’s a reason why action figures are loved by children of any generation. These toys are a jumping-off point for all kinds of adventures as they spark hours of imaginative and physical play. Despite the fact that action figures are just toys, they can mean anything to anyone. Now, children aren't even limited to G.I. Joes and Barbies.

Children can play with action figures from classic stories; they could play with a knight or a pirate, or even the dragon that threatens them. Action figures are based on real and imaginary characters. However, they can also assume the role of our ordinary and unsung heroes such as firefighters, teachers, and law enforcers. Even toddlers can get in on the action with figurines that are designed for their tiny and adorable hands.

Yahoo Lifestyle, an online lifestyle magazine, states that the action figure phase sometimes never ends. These toys can come in the form of priceless collectibles that often cost more when they are never taken out of their boxes. Of course, those kinds of toys may not spark the imaginative play we're talking about because these kinds of toys are off-limits, but there are other recommended action figures that can bring delight to your little ones.

Marvel Action Figures

Comic book characters are the best options if you want your child to be inspired to be brave and honorable. Fans of Marvel’s comic book and movie characters would be delighted to create endless stories with a set of iconic superheroes. In the set of ten that is being sold by Marvel, the most beloved protagonists of the comic book franchise are included such as Hulk, Thor, and Captain America.

These action figures are designed for small hands, and fortunately, they don’t have small pieces that can be detached easily or stepped on. Meanwhile, their legs and arms are nicely crafted for more posing and adventures. These toys are perfect for toddlers and kids up to seven years old.

Disney Buzz Lightyear Action Figure

Disney and Pixar are known for crafting some of the most beloved animated characters from our childhoods. The Toy Story franchise recently came to a close, and it proved that Buzz Lightyear and his friends still have their timeless appeal especially for kids. Most of us grew up watching Buzz and Woody’s adventures in each of their movies and wishing that we had talking and moving toys.

An interactive Buzz Lightyear can delight young kids and even those who are young at heart with its 30 catchphrases and retractable helmet and wings. Each action figure has a button where one can activate a ‘karate chop’ motion, and the joints of this toy are capable of doing a pose, including its fingers. Although it isn't a sentient being like the Buzz in the movie, this Buzz Lightyear is still great for sparking nostalgia and excitement.

Firefighter Action Figure Playset

Kids should be inspired to do honorable work throughout their childhood. They should learn that every job must have a shred of honor. So, while they have fun playing with their action figures, you can give them a real-life superhero figure with a firefighter playset with its own accessories, including an oxygen mask and hose. For instance, the Click N’ Play action figure set has other professions, such as police officers and SWAT team members, which are perfect for more real-world play.

Benefits of Imaginative Play

Playing at a young age is a lot more than just playing. These activities can have an effect on a child's formative age, as it has been found that using the imagination when playing allows children to be more creative and encourages better academic performance in school. These kinds of play also help children develop a strong problem-solving approach when learning.

Social Development

According to the Living and Loving Magazine, a trusted magazine for parents, when children engage in pretend play, their minds are actively experimenting with the social roles of life. It was also explained by Dr. Catherine Neilsen-Hewett that imaginative play provides a key skill which is significant for a child’s success, especially if it's done with their peers.

Language Development

Young kids can also improve their vocabulary and experiment with words in their own space and time. Playing around in their made-up world can create a safe zone for them, free of embarrassment if they use the words incorrectly. Pretend play with others will allow children to understand that words are capable of giving them the power to tell a story and to organize play.

Thinking Skills

Imaginative play fosters mental growth as it allows opportunities for children to try out new ideas. These also allow them to think and solve problems in their own bubble. In pretend play, children can face problems which they are capable of solving.
