When before it was deemed as taking the world by storm, these days K-Pop is becoming a much bigger behemoth than any of us expected. K-Pop may have introduced us to the different music style of our friends from the East, but they also proudly introduced their culture to the rest of the world.
Given that K-Pop is still South Korea’s biggest cash cow, the artists and idols that work hard to make their mark in the industry also reap the benefits of their involvement in K-Pop. They climb to the top of their careers and amass so much money. The following are the top South Korean idols of the last few years and their net worth.
PSY, Park Jae-sang
Net Worth: US$45,000,000
We all know him for going viral back when YouTube views that reached the billions was news for everyone, so it’s not a surprise at all that he is at the top of the highest-earning K-Pop idols in the world. While the popularity of his breakout track “Gangnam Style” has petered down years later, revisiting the video will still show you the proud 3.2 billion views that firmly laid down the foundation for K-Pop to be on the worldwide music map.
Don’t believe the popularity of “Gangnam Style”? Well, you should, because according to E! Online, a source for all things entertainment, “Gangnam Style” actually basked in popularity and a dedicated viewership consistently for five consecutive years.

SIWON, Choi Si-won, SUPER JUNIOR
Net Worth: US$35,000,000
Super Junior is arguably one of the most unforgettable bands to come out of South Korea. They started the decade off looking fresh and continued to be as cool now as they were then, but now sporting more of their wisened, handsome faces.
Siwon was already rich before he even amassed millions in his career. But he’s also a very dedicated philanthropist, something he never forgets to do even when his career these days is being taken up by a mix of individual activities: acting, modeling, and songwriting. According to The Jakarta Post, his heart still seems to at least be in the right place, as he is now a special representative of the South Korea committee for UNICEF.
G-DRAGON, Kwon Ji-yong, BIGBANG
Net Worth: US$21,000,000
G-Dragon is the definition of the “drip.” His knack for fashion and boldness in wearing literally whatever he wants showed the world that his confidence meant that he was not someone who would half-ass anything -- and it’s true. G-Dragon effortlessly sells out stadiums, and is more or less a one-man show. His charisma is unparalleled and has been invariably linked to his equally powerful stage name.
G-Dragon doesn’t just work as the leader of the boyband BIGBANG (due in large part to the issues that one of their members faced at the start of the year), but he makes bank consistently on his own lifestyle brand PeaceMinusOne.
SUZY, Bae Su-ji, MISS A
Net Worth: US$10,000,000
Also known for her stellar vocal prowess, Suzy is a force to be reckoned with in the K-Pop industry, although she spends most of her stardom now by becoming a frequent face in television programs in South Korea. From her appearances in many shows as well as commercials -- which is still a big part of an idol’s income -- she has been named the queen of the “commercial film” in South Korea.
Suzy also stepped into films, as well, when her movie debut in “Architecture 101” endeared fans so much and so quickly, she was then hailed as “Korea’s Icon of First Love.”

TAEYANG, Dong Young-bae, BIGBANG
Net Worth: US$10,000,000
Now married and mostly free from K-Pop commitment, Taeyang spends most of his days flexing his skills in the real estate business. According to E! Online, the pop star is currently thriving away from the limelight with “serious million dollar listings under his name.” He’s known for being an amazing singer, too, and gained equal popularity as a solo artist as much as he was recognized for his contribution to the boyband group BIGBANG.
The Jakarta Post writes that Taeyang is not to be forgotten for his warm vocals and wondrous dancing skills as well.
Honorable Mention: SUHO, Kim Jun-myeon, EXO
Estimated Net Worth (2019): $1,000,000 - $5,000,000
He may not be worth as much as the others on this list but Suho’s riches are worth mentioning because of his old-money privilege. In another article in E! Online, it was reported that Suho has lived a largely privileged life, leading a “charming childhood in glitzy Apgujeong,” one of South Korea’s wealthiest neighborhoods.
His old money before achieving success in K-Pop comes from his successful academic and college professor father, who is well-known in Seoul as someone who “possesses one of the greatest minds.”
