The weather is becoming chilly with the advent of the Christmas season. And as it gets darker and colder, there is nothing better than curling up with a good game on your mobile phone. Now that there are new iPhone models recently released, there are also great iOS games that you can download and play in order to enjoy the best features of Apple’s latest smartphones.
There are so many gaming apps on the App Store, paid or free, which is why the gaming options on the iPhones are nearly limitless. However, also because of their sheer number, finding the right game for your iPhone may not easier than you think. Scrolling through the myriad of options reading their descriptions and user reviews can really be a tedious chore. It has to be said that Apple’s massive game library also features a lot of games that are not worth your time. The list below offers a glimpse of the better ones.
An article on Tech Radar, an online publication focused on technology, highly suggests Yokai Dungeon, which is a fast-paced arcade game that makes players run about and defeat demons. It’s set in a series of linked arenas, which are filled with movable objects you can use to squash your enemies against the wall.
The game, which was created by indie gaming company Neutronized, looks really good with its Japanese theme and pixel art. Neutronized was also the team that created the Super Cat Tales, which had the same concept where players defeat enemies by pushing different items like blocks or bombs, explained Pocket Gamer, an online portal that features articles about the latest smartphone games.
Yokai Dungeon is inspired by Japanese folklore. It enables players to take on the role of Tanuki, a Japanese raccoon, which will face an army of demons, including the best type of Yokai (a class of supernatural monsters, demons, and spirits), the Kasa-obake, an old umbrella that has turned into a monster. The smartphone game also features an intuitive control scheme that is easy to master, and the creators offer several control types based on the feedback they got from actual gamers.
Mario Kart Tour
Nintendo has done a very great job translating some of its huge properties for the mobile phone platform. Digital Trends, a technology news, lifestyle, and information website that publishes news, reviews, further explained that Mario Kart Tour has become a huge hit among smartphone users. When it was first released, it broke the download record set by Pokémon Go. Mario Kart’s simple gameplay and nostalgic and charming characters are one of several reasons why the game has been a huge success.
The game is a free app, but there are also premium contents that can be unlocked when one avails the Gold Pass. It offers special races that cost $5 per month. The players will need to unlock new characters if they want to get far in the game. Of course, they can use their beloved Mario characters.

iPhones are great for sports games. If you love golf, then you must try WGT Golf, which gives the player a solid golf experience as it allows them to take a swing using their mobile devices. The game has a perfect simulation quality, and it includes 18-stroke play and offers a variety of clubs that a player can choose from. It even gives the chance for players to enjoy a dozen of golf’s most well-known championship courses like Pebble Beach, Celtic Manor, and Pinehurst.
A popular editor’s pick, Hearthstone is a free-to-game online digital collectible card game that was developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. According to Cult of Mac, an online magazine that features the latest smartphone games, Hearthstone is originally titled Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. The smartphone game is said to be similar to the one that came out on Mac and PC, and players, fortunately, find it just as easy to play it on their smartphones.
Recently, Blizzard launched the latest update that brought forth a new single-player mode to tie in with the new card set expansion. Hearthstone Battlegrounds also has a quartet of new heroes where players can choose their own unique hero power. PC Gamer, a website that provides articles about technology and online games, said that the latest patch makes a handful of balance changes, as it fixes bugs and adjusts the points allocations for wins. It also provides a preview of more changes planned for next month.
Blizzard explained, “We wanted to buff both Demons and Murlocs, so we moved those minions down a Tavern Tier. Junkbot was a bit too strong for Tavern Tier 4 and often made it so mech players never had a good reason to upgrade to Tavern Tier 5.” The company added that with these latest updates, players will have the chance to enjoy different minion types that are closer together in power level.
