Emos unite because emo household name My Chemical Romance is coming back for a show in LA, the band itself announced over Instagram.

Despite it being a single show, The Guardian reports that the response to the group’s announcement has already been met with astronomical positivity and excitement. The British news website commented that it was even rather ingenious that the band announced their comeback show on Halloween, in the spirit of their image as a band.

The post on Instagram read “Like Phantoms Forever” and detailed that their LA comeback stage will happen at the Shrine Expo Hall on December 20, 2019.

For a little backgrounder, My Chemical Romance first formed in 2001 where they were largely able to build their fanbase from the then-active social network MySpace. These days the legacy of My Chemical Romance may be associated with poorly-edited memes from a time almost nearly forgotten, but for many people, My Chemical Romance was a representation of who they were -- My Chemical Romance spoke to the angsty teen in us with equal respect.

Those days, something like that was poignant, especially since adults don’t seem to extend the same kind of understanding to angsty teens.

They managed to get out of the obscurity of MySpace shortly after their second album, “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge,” came out and achieved commercial success.

Their third album, The Black Parade, was when they really took off, as when it was released in 2006, it quickly became their “most popular and critically successful” album. After that, fans were only left with “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys,” as it was the last album they released before parting ways.

Perhaps this come back was something that Way has been thinking for a while now, after all, it was his famous words “My Chemical Romance is done. But it can never die. It is alive in me,” that fueled hopeful fans that there might some day be a chance to see them together once again.

And that day has finally come.
