People Are Cheering on Obese Cat Cinderblock’s Weight Loss Journey

An obese cat on a weight loss journey is being cheered far and wide across the internet. Her heroic and slow journey to losing weight stood out on the web for how hilariously relatable it is for those of us who might be going through our own weight loss journey.

The name of this cat is Cinderblock, and those who have been helping her are good people from Northshore Veterinary Hospital in Bellingham, Washington. According to BuzzFeed News, the news arm of multimedia website BuzzFeed, Cinderblock’s rise to fame and relatability can be traced to the hilarious video of her moving only one paw on the treadmill instead of walking on it on all fours.

After the veterinary hospital posted this hilarious treadmill video, they realized that so many people found Cinderblock’s predicament and struggle both adorable and inspiring. Pretty soon, Cinderblock was trending and the people in the hospital decided to update the internet on her journey altogether.

Since that first video of Cinderblock, people have made art, posted the original video as a meme, and even identified with Cinderblock’s weight problems. One user drew fanart of the adorable kitty, writing “IN THIS HOUSE WE CHEER ON CINDERBLOCK YOU GOT THIS BB DO THAT WORKOUT.”

The Northshore Veterinary Hospital then posted about other improvements in Cinderblock’s journey. Just recently, the update showed that Cinderblock was now able to walk. She is still hesitant and a little wobbly, which is why she was held up by staff while she walked, but it’s a good thing that she’s finally using all four legs.

For anyone wondering, Cinderblock needs to lose weight in order to get a better quality of life, which has been affected negatively by her size.
“We are helping her achieve weight loss through a prescription diet and exercise. She is not on board with the exercise,” the Instagram caption read on the viral video. It currently has 78,000 views and counting.
