A mother from Texas is now facing time in prison after she subjected her son to numerous doctor visits, procedures, and 13 major surgeries. She has been sentenced to six years in prison.
In a report by PEOPLE, a website that provides news about celebrity and human-interest stories, they shared that Kaylene Bowen-Wright was charged with injury to a child with serious bodily harm. She was charged by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office in 2017 based on the investigative documents obtained by PEOPLE.

According to Heath Hyde, Bowen-Wright’s lawyer, their team believes that Christopher really did have “medical problems.” Meanwhile, Christopher’s dad Ryan Crawford currently has full custody of the child, and he mentioned in an interview that his son is a normal 10-year-old who loves to play soccer and choir.
Crawford noted that he was battling to gain custody of Christopher by the time that Bowen-Wright brought her son to hospitals. He claimed that he “didn’t know what to do” in the face of Bowen-Wright’s “manipulation.”
Documents gathered from Child Protective Services in 2017 allegedly show that Bowen-Wright may have Munchausen by proxy. This is a form of abuse wherein a guardian exaggerates or induces illness in exchange for attention or sympathy.

According to the documents, young Christopher was seen by doctors 323 times, and Bowen-Wright started abusing the young child 11 days after he was born in 2009. In 2017, authorities started to investigate the mother after she claimed that Christopher had a seizure, and she allegedly told other people that he had cancer.
