Mom Finishes Marathon While Pushing Kids In A Stroller

A woman named Cynthia Arnold successfully finished a marathon and unofficially broke the Guinness World Record last year. Her achievement was an inspiration for moms and parents alike. People.com, a website that provides news about celebrity and human-interest stories, shared how Arnold broke the Guinness World Record with her three children.

Last year, Arnold broke the record for being the fastest half-marathoner as she pushed her children’s three-person stroller. But she topped the notch this year as she did the same for the full marathon. Arnold’s children are ages 6,4, and one - and this year, she finished the marathon of 26.2 miles in the span of four hours and six minutes.

However, the mother of three finished the said marathon in just three hours and eleven minutes. She’s still waiting for Guinness to acknowledge her victory so that her victory will become official. Runner’s World said that the stroller weighed 185 lbs. This includes the combined weight of her children, 130 lbs, plus the weight of the stroller.

To prepare for the marathon, Arnold started training last winter. She occasionally brings her kids while she’s training. In an interview, Arnold said that she enjoys the company of her children as she trains. “We live in rural Montana and see lots of wildlife on the bike path right out my door,” she said. Arnold said that she keeps a consistent routine and she sees regular commuters each day as she trains.

Though Arnold said that she plans on running a marathon by herself this coming fall, she expressed her attachment to the stroller after her husband asked her to throw the stroller into a ditch. Arnold also shared that she teared up when she realizes that any day could be her eldest daughter’s last day using the stroller.
