Meet Young Tiana: The Belle of the Park at Disney's Magic Kingdom

Eight-year-old Sydney Russell made headlines when she danced along to the music at the Magic Kingdom Park at Disney World. Since her performance, and after her mother, Tiffany Russell, posted it online, Sydney has captivated people in and out of Disney World.

According to Today.com, a news program that informs, entertains, inspires and sets the agenda each morning for viewers across America, Sydney went to Disney World with her whole family to celebrate her eighth birthday. They also celebrated her parents', Tiffany and George's, 11th wedding anniversary.

She was already wearing the Princess Tiana costume when they came out at the Magic Kingdom Park where Sydney felt compelled to move and groove to the sound of the brass band playing there -- which also happened to be playing “When We’re Human,” from “The Princess and the Frog,” where Princess Tiana stars as a hard-working New Orleans girl striving for her dreams.

When Tiffany talked to Today.com, she said that it was Sydney herself who chose to be Princess Tiana during their Disney visit.

“She chose Princess Tiana for her makeover because Tiana is her favorite princess. Sydney is inspired by the way Princess Tiana never gave up on her dreams,” Tiffany shared. Tiffany said Sydney also liked the other Disney princesses.

Between that and the brass bed, Tiffany said that Sydney eventually decided that she wanted to dance along to the music.

Initially, she just stood and watched the band play, but then a “photo pass photographer saw her [Sydney] and asked, ‘Why aren’t you dancing out there?’” Sydney was encouraged to dance and her parents decided to take a video to commemorate the adorable moment.

"We feel truly blessed that Sydney's video has now literally touched millions of people," said Russell. "We believe her pure display of joy and freedom has reminded people how precious life is and how important it is to enjoy and seize the moment."
