Mom Wants to Look Like Barbie Without Resorting to Plastic Surgery

In the last two decades, women who love Barbie have gone under the knife to look just like her, however, one woman wants to achieve her dream look without resorting to plastic surgery, reports Faima Bakar of the UK’s highest-circulating newspaper Metro. Real estate investor Marcela Iglesias has undergone non-surgical bum lifts and lip fillers, as she is afraid of having plastic surgery.

Marcela has long been obsessed with her dream of transforming herself into a human Barbie. Before hitting puberty, she stuffed her bra and bum to make herself appear more curvaceous. Apparently, her hourglass figure earned the ire of strangers, calling her “plastic” or “fake.” Marcela dons on Barbie-inspired dresses, accessories, and makeup, which take her 40 minutes “to put together.” She speculates that her obsession with Barbie stemmed from her mom not allowing her to have the doll as a child.

Marcela narrates, “I remember seeing all my friends and neighbours playing with the dolls and having lots of fun dressing them up in new outfits, playing house with them.” She became more obsessed with the character, as every Barbie doll looked perfect to her. The mother-of-one continues, “I started to buy more clothes to change my style and I started wearing my mum’s very high heels. I also did my first highlights at the age of fourteen to appear blonder.”

Originally from Argentina, Marcela moved to the US, where she met her husband, Steven. She notes, “Living in Hollywood helps a lot because there’s a lot of stuff that I can buy to look more like a Barbie doll.” Steven approves of her look and is a significant part of her transformation. According to Marcela, plastic surgery should be “considered the last choice,” asserting that she wants to be perceived as a strong woman who “knows what she wants rather than a ‘bimbo’.”
