Woman Gets Devastated at Cake That Looked Like "Lopsided Turkey With Leprosy"

Rena Davis, 52, thought she would have the perfect cake for her wedding— unfortunately, she was devastated when it arrived, as it looked like a “lop-sided turkey with leprosy” instead of a graceful peacock, state Sophie Norris and Joseph Wilkes of British newspaper Mirror. Rena spent $300 on her wedding cake, only for the final product to appear as a hideous turkey with its head about to come off.

She was “heartbroken” because one of the peacocks’ heads fell and the fondant icing on the cake was just buttercream. The original design featured two birds, chocolate cupcakes, and a heart-shaped sponge. Rena showed a similar photo of cake to the baker, which had one blue peacock. The 52-year-old paid a month prior to her wedding.

Weeks went by and Rena thought everything was going according to plan. Sadly, she “received a completely different cake” from what she initially requested. She claims she was refused a refund until she shared her ordeal on social media. After the post went viral, Rena received an envelope containing $300. Initially, the bride-to-be received a box of Krispies to repair the peacock. Rena narrates her exchange with the baker, “She said she couldn't give me my money back at first because she had 50 hours in it and she had to pay her mom for helping.”

Annette Hill, Rena’s sister-in-law, lambasted the cake on social media saying, “The one 'peacock' looks like a turkey with leprosy or something, and the white bird, which isn't white at all, doesn't even have a tail or look like a bird in any way, it's just a brown BLOB!” The cake continued to sink due to the birds’ weight and by the following morning, they “were almost sitting at the bottom layer.” According to Hill, Rena spent the morning of her wedding going from one store to another to find another cake.

The unsightly cake was stored in Rena’s fridge for three days until after the wedding, when she disposed of it for good.
